About this dish

Pirozhki are the small hand pies of Russian home baking — the snack bought on the way to work, packed for a train journey, or set out next to a bowl of soup. Ours come with six savoury fillings: minced beef, chicken and mushroom, cabbage and egg, egg and rice, potato, or cabbage on its own.

They are at their best with soup, and both borscht and solyanka can come with a few pirozhki on the side. Order several fillings for an office lunch or a family table.
