About this dish
Borodinsky is Russia's best-known dark rye bread: dense, slightly sweet and scented with coriander seeds. It is said to be named after the Battle of Borodino of 1812, and it is one of the breads Russians miss most abroad.
Half a loaf or a whole one — the classic slice with borscht and herring.
