About this dish

Chicken Kiev is a chicken fillet wrapped around a core of herbed butter and breaded, so the butter runs out when you cut into it. It became a fixture of restaurant menus in the Soviet years and travelled from there to the rest of the world.

Mashed potato is the classic partner; buckwheat, rice, pasta, draniki, grilled vegetables and asparagus are on the list of sides too.
